The smell is coming from a private wastewater treatment works
Efforts will be made this week to resolve ongoing odour problems affecting some residents in a Peel estate.
The smell in Reayrt Ny Keylley is understood to be coming from a private wastewater treatment works and travelling through the local sewer network.
Manx Utilities says essential cleaning work will take place from tomorrow (21 October) until Thursday (23 October), including the removal of septic sludge from the treatment works and jetting of nearby sewers.
Four tankers will be on site from 8am each day, and residents are being advised to keep windows closed during working hours.
No work is planned over the weekend, though a temporary increase in odour may occur while operations are carried out.
Manx Utilities adds the works are a priority and form an important step toward resolving the issue.
