
Trade and Industry Minister David Cretney says he hopes to make some changes to the work permit system – to make it easier for some industries to import staff.
He says a review of the system found there are some areas in the economy which find it extremely difficult to recruit trained staff on the Island.
The review, after the last election, also led to the tightening of the rules governing work permits but Mr Cretney says he knows some sectors are feeling the strain.
He says he’ll take a list of industries before Tynwald later this year to relax some of the restrictions.
