Hopes votes aren't cast to just to balance numbers
Any women voted on to the Legislative Council should get in on merit - and not just because of their sex.
That's the belief of two candidates standing in next week's election.
Fifteen candidates are standing for the five places available.
There have been calls for more women to get involved in Manx politics for many years, but speaking on Mandate this morning Tanya Humbles and Marlene Hendy said they hoped that MHKs wouldn't vote for women standing for LegCo simply in order to balance out the numbers.
