Bethany Colgan suffered with condition for years before being diagnosed
An Island woman is taking on a marathon in Croatia today, in aid of a charity which supports those living with endometriosis.
Bethany Colgan suffered with the condition for eight years before being diagnosed.
She says her fundraising challenge is deeply personal after years of struggling with the condition.
In a JustGiving post, she describes being repeatedly misdiagnosed and prescribed up to 17 courses of antibiotics a year, often feeling dismissed and disbelieved.
By October 2024, the pain had left her housebound or in hospital.
Surgery last year removed the endometriosis, which she says has been life changing.
She has already surpassed her original £1,000 target for Endometriosis UK, which provides information and support to people living with the condition.
