Airline routinely sells more tickets than seats
A Bride woman who booked a £300 plane ticket more than a month in advance has been refused entry onto a flight due to overbooking.
Madeline Simpson turned up in plenty of time at Ronaldsway Airport early this morning only to be told there were no available seats.
British Airways told her it frequently sells more tickets than it can cater for to cover 'no-shows'.
In a statement the company said: "By careful monitoring of booking and load patterns for each flight, we do our best to maximise the number of customers able to travel on each service."
When the number of passengers exceeds the seats available, those unable to fly are offered a financial sum to book on another flight.
The rejection meant she missed an urgent appointment in the UK that was arranged six months ago; one she won't be able to rearrange before Christmas or have refunded.
An outraged Madeline couldn't quite believe what she was being told.
