Woman handed suspended sentence for £35k benefits fraud

Anagh Coar resident pleads guilty to eight charges

A 31-year-old Douglas woman has been given a suspended prison sentence after falsely claiming nearly £35,000 in benefits.

Jessica Lynn Cracknell, of Anagh Coar, entered guilty pleas to eight counts of making false representations to obtain the benefits at Douglas courthouse in December last year.

She admitted falsely claiming Income Support, and Employed Persons Allowance, between November 2017 and December 2019.

The court heard she'd failed to declare she was being financially supported by her ex-partner and had received £34,848.61 which she was not entitled to. 

Cracknell received a 12 month sentence at Douglas courthouse, which was suspended for 18 months, and was ordered to pay costs.
