Wind farm public meetings

There's a chance to find out more about plans for the Rhiannon Wind Farm over the course of the next seven days.

Celtic Array has arranged three public information days on Friday, Saturday and a week today (December 3).

Beofre that, five concerned parties have organised a media briefing to explain their reservations about the proposed new windfarms or extension to existing windfarms in the Irish Sea.

The meeting today (Monday), on behalf of the Department of Infrastructure, the Steam Packet, the Chamber of Commerce, Manx Hospitality Forum and TravelWatch, is the first time all five parties with expressed concerns about windfarm plans have combined their efforts.

The meeting will be addressed by Infrastructure Minister David Cretney, after which representatives from each will make a short presentation.

There will then be a question and answer session.

The group believes it is vital members of the public have all relevant information at their disposal so they are fully informed and able to ask relevant questions if they wish at the Celtic Array information days.

It's claimed the potential impact of wind farms in the Irish Sea is something which could affect everyone who lives and works here.
