One artist says local people will always support local music
Earlier this week it was revealed the Isle of Man is to get its first ever Wetherspoon's pub on 14 May.
'The Conister Arms' will open in the 1886 building on Regent Street in Douglas as a four-storey venue offering 725 capacity and outdoor seating.
But it's safe to say that the news was met with mixed opinions.
Manx Radio went down to Regent Street to see what you think, now the shock factor has worn off:
One question some of the Island's performers are asking is how will the change impact the Island's live music scene?
1886 often has live bands and solo acts performing across the weekend, and on some weeknights too.
Some performers have said there are 'very few venues for people to play in' and therefore losing this one is a 'pretty big deal'.
But others disagree with that sentiment, like solo singer-guitarist Trevor John Shimmin, who is a familiar face on the Manx music circuit.
He told Siobhán Fletcher he can't see the loss of 1886 having an impact, as local people will always support local music:
Manx Radio has contacted 1886 for comment and clarification regarding the future of live music provision in the pub.
