Wildfire risk rises amid warm, dry conditions on the Isle of Man

Public urged to avoid countryside barbecues and campfires as dry vegetation increases danger

The Isle of Man Government is warning of a heightened risk of wildfires due to ongoing warm and dry weather conditions.

Authorities say uplands, heathlands, and woodlands are particularly vulnerable, with dry vegetation posing a serious fire risk to habitats, wildlife, and nearby communities.

With many animals currently nesting or breeding, the impact of wildfires could be especially severe.

The public is being asked not to light barbecues, campfires or stoves in the countryside, to dispose of cigarettes and litter responsibly, and to report any signs of smoke or fire by calling 999.
