What do people in Peel want from a government?

Tonight's meeting is at the Centenary Centre from 7pm.

A meeting will be held in Peel this evening, 19 August, to hear more about what residents want from the next administration.

Organised by Lulu Gillow, Janet Bridle and Nigel Comely, the meeting is the third to be held around the Island.

Following those earlier meetings in Douglas Central and Rushen constituencies, tonight's meeting wants to offer people the 'opportunity to share their concerns, ideas and their hopes of the next Manx administration ahead of next month's election'.

While it is open to candidates to attend, organisers say they have no political affiliations or intentions and are asking those who do want to stand to listen rather than take part so as to allow a free flow of ideas.

Lulu said: "As well as informing candidates about what the public want from them, we hope the reports may help people form questions to ask when candidates are canvassing and also could be used to hold them to account once/if they're successful.

"None of the organisers has any political affiliations or aspirations, we simply want to provide opportunity for the public's voice to be heard and hope that the information gleaned from these meetings, supports candidates in their focus."

Tonight's meeting at the Centenary Centre gets underway at 7pm.
