Weather warning for snow, ice and coastal overtopping

Snow could become 'heavy' overnight Thursday

A yellow weather warning has been put in place for snow, ice and coastal overtopping from now until 2pm tomorrow.

The Ronaldsway Met Office says we can expect snow and hail showers throughout this evening and overnight, with the risk of icy patches around the Island.

Meanwhile, strong winds from the east are expected to lead to minor coastal overtopping around exposed coasts and promenades around the time of high tide tomorrow(around 12:30pm). 

Areas at risk include the whole of Douglas promenade, Laxey prom, Ramsey prom, Derbyhaven and to a lesser extent Castletown prom and Shore Road Rushen.

A warning has already been put in place for snow on the Island tomorrow, however forecasters now suggest there are indications of that snow becoming persistent and often heavy and continuing through the evening and overnight into Friday, which would require at least an Amber warning.

The Met Office says it's monitoring the situation.
