MLC's amendment rejected
A three-pronged plan for the future of public service media in the Isle of Man has been approved by Tynwald.
It reaffirms the court's commitment to independent media of this nature; calls on the Council of Ministers to negotiate a better deal with the BBC; and calls on the Manx Radio board to develop a sustainable operational and funding plan.
An amendment proposed by Kerry Sharpe MLC to remove the last of those - and maybe have another committee at some point, although this was only mentioned by her verbally and was not on the document - was roundly criticised and rejected.
Speaking ahead of the vote, Ayre and Michael MHK Tim Baker, who'd put forward the plan, was one of those.
