Douglas Borough Council provides guidelines
Households who have tested positive or are experiencing Coronavirus symptoms and awaiting results, are being advised to dispose of personal waste safely and securely.
Douglas Borough Council announced the guidelines in a post on social media.
Personal waste such as tissues and disposable cleaning cloths need to be firmly stored within disposable rubbish bags.
These bags should be placed into another bag, tied securely and kept separate from other waste.
Residents are asked to put this aside for at least 72 hours before being placed in the usual external household waste bin.
The guidance aims to reduce the risk of cross contamination in the community.
Refuse operatives handle hundreds of bins on a daily basis.
Other household waste can be disposed as normal.
