
The introduction of a blanket £50 sewerage charge for households and businesses in April is being defended by the chairman of the Water and Sewerage Authority.
John Houghton announced the charge's introduction yesterday during Tynwald.
It will go up to £100 from April next year, with further annual increases more than likely for the next few years.
Mr Houghton says its introduction is necessary to cover money from another source being reduced:
