Warning over use of 'smart glasses'

Technology can be misused by wearers

The Island's Information Commissioner has issued a warning over the use of so-called 'smart glasses'.

The wearable devices, such as Meta’s Ray-Ban and Oakley ranges, allow the wearer to record video and audio at simply the tap of a frame.

Concerns have been raised around their ability to be used to capture conversations and personal information without people knowing.

As a result, data protection authorities in the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey have joined forces to highlight the potential privacy risks.
