Police are strengthening ties with Douglas Corporation by appointing five managers in council wards.
The experienced and well-known officers will take charge of day-to-day 'quality of life policing issues' in Murray's, St George's, Derby and Victoria wards.
Because Victoria ward is so large, it will be split in two.
The system is due to go 'live' at the end of March and the officers will be visible, accessible and familiar points of contact for councillors and the community.
Police hope the scheme will allow a more coordinated and swift response for victims, criminals and locations in Douglas.
