Says neither Cannan or Allinson had 'fresh thinking' required
A Douglas North MHK says he refused to vote for either chief minister candidate because he didn't believe they had the 'fresh thinking' required.
John Wannenburgh spoilt his vote yesterday which he claims was because Alfred Cannan and Alex Allinson were part of the last Council of Ministers.
He was one of two MHKs not to vote.
In a post on social media Mr Wannenburgh shared a quote which said: "There is no such thing as freedom of choice unless there is freedom to refuse."
He adds that now Mr Cannan has been elected he will 'of course' work with him in a 'socially progressive way'.
Meanwhile his political colleague, Douglas Central MHK, Chris Thomas - who also refused to vote - says he's happy being on the back benches.
He claims he can achieve as much from there are he would from being part of an administration:
Contractors to start installing 20mph signs in Douglas and Onchan
Road closures in place following incident in Hillberry area
Accessible bus stops rolled out across Bus Vannin network
£1 million National AI Office launched to coordinate artificial intelligence policy and adoption
