Injured on clifftop path in the west
Peel coastguard was called into action last night after a walker broke their ankle in an inaccessible part of the West coast.
The incident happened at 5.20pm on the footpath to the hermit’s chapel south of Eary Cushlin.
Coastguard officers and paramedics reached the scene but needed a helicopter to winch the hiker to safety.
The injured walker was flown to Noble’s Hospital for treatment.
