Current arrangement not working as anticipated
The take up of free school meals throughout the Covid-19 pandemic hasn’t gone to plan according to the Education Minister.
Dr Allinson says following conversations with headteachers, his department will be unveiling a new voucher system to allow parents of those who would benefit from the free meals, to buy food in shops instead.
Speaking on the Mannin Line today (15 Apr) he revealed Treasury has agreed to the scheme, which will be announced later this week:
