Four-week volunteering challenge open to the public

A scout group in the north of the Island is facing closure if it doesn't get volunteers to step forward in the coming weeks.

The Isle of Man Scouts lead volunteer is making the call out for new members for Ramsey and Ballaugh, with the latter said to be in urgent need of support.

Both Ballaugh and Ramsey are small scout groups with a rich history on the Isle of Man and we are looking for the next generation of adult volunteers to lead the groups in their next chapter. " - Will Nelson

Over the weekend the organisation held its annual camp with 179 cubs and scouts and 20 explorers at the Mountain View Innovation Centre.

Will Nelson told Chanelle Sukhoo 'scouting is for everyone' adding that as a volunteer, you'll gain new skills and help young people build confidence.

He says they are looking for group lead volunteers that:

  • Inspire and motivate people through enthusiastic and positive leadership.
  • Applies strategic thinking to a challenge.
  • Builds and leads a team of volunteers.
  • Bring energy, creativity and a can-do attitude.
  • Believe passionately about developing young people and volunteers.

Over the next four weeks Will says people will have the opportunity to 'test drive' volunteering:
