An appeal’s been launched against the sentence handed down to a former gymnastics coach, convicted of four counts of indecent assault.
Earlier this month, 62 year-old Harold Volante of Cooil Close in Douglas, was given a 12 month prison sentence, suspended for two years.
He’d been found guilty of carrying out offences against young girls, aged ten to 15, following a four week trial, but was cleared of a further four charges of indecent assault.
He was also placed on the Sexual Offenders Register and a supervision order was also imposed.
An appeal against the leniency of the sentence has been lodged on behalf of the Attorney General’s Chambers.
