Vehicles seized as police operation targets second hand car garages

Follows complaints of unroadworthy vehicles for sale

Police have seized a number of vehicles in an operation tackling several second hand car garages on the Island.

It follows complaints regarding the sales of vehicles that aren't roadworthy.

Officers from Isle of Man Constabulary, Office of Fair Trading, and Department of Infrastructure Vehicle Examiners have been out inspecting the garages today (6 May).

Whilst the majority of vehicles for sale were found to be in a roadworthy condition, five have been seized for further examination at the test centre.

Selling or advertising an unroadworthy motor vehicle is an offence, and those found responsible can be fined up to £5000.

Anyone with concerns about the sale of vehicles unfit to be on the roads is urged to report it to police or partner agencies.
