A yellow and white sports boat was taken on its trailer from the boat park behind The House of Manannan sometime between 6pm on Friday and 8am on Saturday.
It was then launched from the Mill Road slip and sunk, resulting in what police described as 'considerable damage'.
A fishing boat called Oyster Catcher was also released from its mooring on the West Quay.
