Negotiations continuing over lease with Department of Infrastructure
The Steam Packet Company is paying more than £14,000 per month to use the new Liverpool Ferry Terminal until a lease agreement is put in place.
Treasury Minister Alex Allinson confirmed the figure of £14,272 includes a peppercorn rent of £1, but does not include rates as these are still being evaluated by Liverpool City Council.
Using the Pier Head site cost £737,000 per year or £580,000 before rates - equating to £48,333 per month.
Dr Allinson says the ferry operator is currently using the facility on a six-month licence while negotiations continue over a longer-term lease with the Department of Infrastructure:
