Unifying public sector pensions in the Isle of Man could be the way forward, as long as individuals aren't disadvantaged.
So says Mick Hewer, the Regional Industrial Organiser of Unite, one of the largest public sector unions on the Island.
A review of public service pensions will be debated in Tynwald later this year, with existing scheme members concerned about a possible increase in pension age and a decrease in benefits.
Chief Minister Tony Brown has indicated the aim is to unify the 19 different government pension schemes, but it's been made clear if that happens there will be full consultation before any changes are introduced.
Mr Hewer (pictured) says something has to be done, but members of the various schemes shouldn't be made to suffer:
Consultation open on plans to formally recognise the heritage of Douglas Head
