Trade and Industry Minister David Cretney looks like he’s in for a rocky ride in the House of Keys tomorrow.
He’ll face two questions from North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson about changes to the rights of workers to go to an industrial tribunal if they feel they’ve been unfairly dismissed.
Mr Henderson says the recently enacted Employment Act says 15 categories of workers can apply to the tribunal in the first 12 months of their employment – while the rest of the workforce can’t.
He wants to know whether Mr Cretney thinks this is fair, and what difficulties would arise if the legislation was changed to give a level playing field for all workers.
