Ministers cautious as Brexit looms

A new government report suggests the Island's relationship with the EU will 'need to be rebuilt' after the UK triggers Article 50.

The document, from the Council of Ministers' EU Advisory Group, carries several warnings about the potential drawbacks of Brexit on Island travel, immigration, trade and agriculture.

But it also provides assurances that government is engaging with British ministers, Brussels officials, businesses and the wider community here to secure the Island's position as negotiations continue.

Our current relationship with the EU is defined by our position as a crown dependency, and Protocol 3 of the Treaty of Accession.

The report claims it's vital to preserve existing Manx-British links as the process of leaving gets underway.
