UK man found not guilty of causing Mountain Road collision

Twenty-one-year-old acquitted following three-day trial

A UK man has been found not guilty of causing a head-on crash during the 2018 Manx Grand Prix.

Twenty-one-year-old Liam Bass, of Lindsey Drive in Grimsby, stood summary trial before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse on 24, 25 and 26 November, 2021.

He'd denied a single count of causing grievous bodily harm by driving without due care and attention on 18 August, 2018.

The incident related to a head-on collision between two motorcycles on the mountain road near Guthrie's memorial.

At the conclusion of the three-day trial, Mrs Hughes found Mr Bass not guilty of the offence.

In addition, the court awarded defence costs arising from Mr Bass' acquittal.
