Amendment to Financial Services Bill not necessarily crisis for Island
The UK Parliament cannot legislate for the Island without our consent.
So says Senior Counsel at Mann Benham advocates, Paul Beckett.
He was speaking after the deferral of a debate in the House of Commons yesterday on the Financial Services (Implementation of Legislation) Bill in which an amendment sought to force the Island to keep a public register of beneficial owners.
On Mandate this morning (Tues 5) Mr Beckett suggested that if the amendment did go through in a future debate, it wouldn't necessarily be a crisis for the Island.
