Deputy chief minister says political approval over such appointments is normal
The deputy chief minister believes having Tynwald members approve the appointment of board members at publicly-owned companies adds an element of transparency.
Jane Poole-Wilson's comments come after the Manx parliament recently approved the selection of two new non-executive directors for the Steam Packet Company.
Concerns were raised during the debate over the political involvement in the appointments.
But Mrs Poole-Wilson says it's standard practice:
