Tynwald to consider range of fee changes and more Manx money

Tynwald sits this morning – and it’s all about the money.

The court is due to consider a range of fee changes being put forward by departments, as well as a request from Treasury to produce another £20 million in Manx currency.

But questions look to be a short affair, with just five for oral reply and another 32 for written reply.

There are also a number of changes to the Countryside Care Scheme, which will be debated by the court.

In questions, caravans seem to be on the mind of members, with a query from Onchan MHK David Quirk about whether they’d have to pay to use the Sulby Claddagh site – and a question from MLC Geoff Corkish about the future for towed caravans on the Island.

For written answer, Onchan MHK Zac Hall has a series of questions about Jurby prison, including whether the Department of Home Affairs is going to start jamming mobile phone signals there.

Also on the order paper today are higher fees for dentistry, de-sludging, harbour dues, passports, and dog wardens.
