Skelly beats Watterson in run for president of Tynwald
The new president of Tynwald says the Island's parliament is the nation's 'most valuable asset'.
Laurence Skelly was elected to the position by his peers earlier this week, beating fellow Rushen MHK Juan Watterson.
He now serves as the presiding officer for Tynwald and the Legislative Council, relinquishing his seat as an MHK.
On assuming the role, Mr Skelly had this to say:
