Tynwald 'in a good place' for gender balance compared to other jurisdictions

But two of Tynwald's female members warn it could all change at the next election

Tynwald has been described as being 'in a good place' for gender balance when compared to other jurisdictions around the world.

Two of our female MHKs have just returned from the Commonwealth Women’s Parliamentary Conference in Belfast.

Of the 24 MHKs, 10 are women and in the Legislative Council, five of the 11 members are.

Douglas Central member Ann Corlett and Rushen's Michelle Haywood say the Island generally looks quite good at these events, but warns things could change come September:
