Four members opposed
Tynwald has given comprehensive support to the 2018 Manx budget.
After a debate which lasted nearly six hours, the court voted to support Alfred Cannan’s measures by 20 votes to four in the House of Keys and unanimously in the Legislative Council.
The document was praised by some, particularly by government ministers and Treasury members.
There was also plenty of criticism, however, with some backbenchers saying it was too cautious and a budget that offered insufficient protection to certain vulnerable sections of society.
The four MHKs who opposed it were Kate Beecroft, Lawrie Hooper, Julie Edge and Speaker of the House of Keys Juan Watterson.
