Police officers priased for bravery and quick thinking
Two police officers have been praised for their heroics after saving two boys stuck at the end of Castletown pier.
The pair were playing a game of 'chicken' on Sunday (Nov 29) when the stormy weather worsened and they became trapped behind the 'Pepperpot' lighthouse.
A member of the public alerted the police to the situation, after seeing huge waves crashing over the pier.
Officers Anne Tyler and Dave Trevethan drove the police van to the boys who were trying to find shelter behind the lighthouse.
The van was hit by waves and moved two feet by the force, but eventually the officers were able to retrieve the boys safely.
No one was harmed, however it was revealed one of the boys couldn't swim.
The police officers have been commended for their quick thinking and bravery, in a scenario which could've ended very differently.
