Organisation also voices concern over fatigue for drivers providing contingency services

The Isle of Man Trades Union Council is calling for transparency after the Department of Infrastructure published the average salary of a bus driver.

It's as a strike by bus drivers in response to a dispute over pay and contractual issues enters its sixth day.

In confirming further strikes could take place next week, the Department of Infrastructure yesterday published details of the average salary for a Bus Vannin driver.

In response, the TUC says the 'headline figure isn't a guaranteed rate', and that that isn't what every driver actually earns.

It adds that the dispute isn't about a number in a press release, but fairness and parity across the board.

The body, which represents a number of trade unions on the Island, has also questioned how fatigue is being managed among the drivers providing the contingency timetable.

The Department of Infrastructure has been invited to comment.
