Trust eyes wildlife effects of plantation felling

A body concerned with the protection of native Manx animals is keeping a close on eye on the effects of extensive plantation felling.

The Manx Wildlife Trust has been in close contact with the Environment Department regarding the ongoing removal of all larch trees.

It's to stop the spread of a potentially devastating disease, and has had a major impact on the Island's landscape.

Duncan Bridges from the Trust says birds are not being particularly affected, although department officials are keeping an eye out for certain breeds where they are working.

But Mr Bridges says they are worried about smaller creatures living on the ground.
