Thousands of pounds worth of heroin seized by police
Three people have appeared in court after police found thousands of pounds worth of heroin soaked in body fluids.
Jaine Elizabeth Beech and Tracy Solan, both of Walton in Liverpool, appeared with John Slater of Ashley Park in Onchan before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas courthouse.
The court heard all three were arrested at Mr Slater’s family home after police watched the two women get off a ferry and travel there on 16 January.
Father-of-two Mr Slater was said to have put a wad of cash on a trampoline in his garden as officers arrived.
Inside the house, police found two packages on a kitchen table, both covered in bodily fluids – officers suspected they’d recently been removed from internal cavities.
One, weighing 154 grammes, turned out to be heroin.
No pleas were entered and all three were remanded in custody by Mrs Hughes.
Thirty-one-year-old Mr Slater, 39-year-old Miss Beech and 45-year-old Miss Solan will next appear in court on 4 February.
