Mr Cain was one of many responders to the Summerland Disaster
The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service has paid tribute to former Chief Fire Officer Godfrey Cain, following his death.
Mr Cain's career began with Oldham County Borough Fire Brigade in 1968, before returning home to join what was then the Isle of Man Fire Service.
In 1973, at just 30 years old, he played a key role in the response to the Summerland Disaster. He was on the second engine to reach the scene.
In 2023, fifty years later, he - alongside other emergency responders - received formal recognition for their efforts.
At the time, Mr Cain sat down with Manx Radio to recount that night.

Mr Cain became Chief Fire Officer in 1993, a role he stayed in until his retirement in 2000.
The Fire and Rescue Service says: "[Godfrey's] influence remains evident to this day, particularly through advancements in vehicle design, equipment, and technology introduced during his tenure.
"Even in retirement, Godfrey remained a passionate supporter of the Fire & Rescue Service, maintaining a keen interest in developments across the UK fire sector and staying closely connected with colleagues and the profession he cared so deeply about.
"On behalf of the Fire & Rescue Service family, past and present, rest in peace Chief.
"You will be greatly missed.
"Our thoughts are with Godfrey’s family at this difficult time."
