One of the best known developers in the Isle of Man has died.
William Thomas Campbell, known to many as 'Big Bill', was 80.
He founded Kirby Estates after acquiring Kirby Farm, and the housing estates built in the Vicarage Road area of Braddan made him a fortune.
Mr Campbell was originally from Peel and also worked as a policeman, farmer and fisherman. Away from work, was a footballer of note, playing centre half for both Peel and the Island.
Journalist Terry Cringle knew him all his life and says he was always a no nonsense character and businessman, who was much sharper than he let on (play audio file):
Mr Campbell's funeral will be held next Wednesday morning (January 26), at Kirk Braddan.
