Trial for Peel man accused of affray

48-year-old denies pulling knife on another man

A Peel man will stand trial after denying pulling a knife on another man in an ‘unprovoked attack’.

John Blanchard, of Station Place, entered a not guilty plea to an offence of affray during an appearance at Douglas Courthouse.

The 48-year-old allegedly made comments of a threatening nature, during the incident on 27 September, before lunging towards the man with the kitchen blade.

Committal proceedings – where the case is elevated to the Court of General Gaol Delivery – will take place on 6 February; bail continues.

Update: At Douglas Courthouse on 6 February committal proceedings were completed. Mr Blanchard will next appear there on a date to be set.
