
Police in the west of the Island are investigating two incidents of animal cruelty in Kirk Michael.
One of them has resulted in the death of a baby goat.
The herd is kept in fields behind the Mitre pub in the village.
The baby goat was crushed by a deliberately untied gate, and whoever was responsible would have had to trespass on the land to do so.
The gate would have fallen on the animal straight away.
In another incident on Monday, a young goat was locked in a shed after the lock had been broken off, causing them a great deal of distress.
Police say that with the death of one animal and suffering to another, the owner is obviously very upset.
