Treasury working with banks to offer appointments to MiCard users 

The service will end at the end of the year

Treasury will continue to work with the banks to offer appointments to MiCard users in the north and south of the Island who want to open an account, according to the minister. 

After this month the current card will cease from working and so a new one needs to be given to those, who cannot open an account or don't want to receive it in the form of a cheque.

Alex Allinson says the 600 people that his department were trying to contact have been in touch over the phone and over 30 residents attended the drop in session at Markwell House last week.  

He says scrapping the MiCard scheme outweigh the cost of continuing the service:
