Government statement issued
Government says Treasury will be reviewing existing policies around free TV licences for those aged 75 and over on the Island to secure a way forward for pensioners resident here.
It follows the announcement by the BBC Board yesterday to end universal provision of free TV licences; the move was taken following a period of public consultation.
In October 2016 Tynwald resolved that free TV licences for those aged 75 or over should be reinstated with immediate effect.
A statement issued by the Manx government states that those individuals in receipt of a free TV Licence do not need to contact the Treasury as their licences remain valid.
