Tynwald committee scrutinises gov't support
The economic impact of Covid-19, and government efforts to mitigate it, will be scrutinised by a Tynwald committee this morning.
Treasury Minister Alf Cannan and Chief Financial Officer Caldric Randall will be under the spotlight, appearing virtually.
It's the third emergency hearing of the Public Accounts Committee, spearheaded by Speaker of the House of Keys Juan Watterson.
Last Friday, the panel heard from enterprise bosses, who said the Business Support Scheme was under budget:
They also said applications had taken too long to process.
Similar ground will be covered this week, but extended to the Salary Support Scheme and MERA.
Mr Watterson says he hopes it'll 'lift the lid' on what government has offered Manx businesses and employees.
