Treasury minister hoping to start rebuilding reserves

Government receives independent advice on department expenditure

Independent financial advice is being used to check budgets right across government.

The aim is to use what is termed priority based budgeting to bring departmental spending under control.

Treasury Minister Dr Alex Allinson has been speaking to Tynwald's Economic Policy Review Committee this week.

He says the eventual hope is to be able to start rebuilding reserves:
