Travel responsible for less than 15% of Manx coronavirus cases

Forty eight cases of Covid-19 linked to trips off-Island

Less than 15% of the Manx residents diagnosed with coronavirus caught the illness as a result of travel.

Figures published by Policy and Reform Minister Ray Harmer show 48 of the 336 people to have tested positive for Covid-19 had travel recorded as the nature of transmission.

A total of 66 people have been found to have coronavirus after arriving on the Isle of Man, but symptom timelines and other members of the same household testing positive mean travel has only been confirmed as the method of transmission for 48 cases.

One healthcare worker with an exemption certificate has tested positive after coming to the Island since borders closed on the 27 March.

Twenty five cases were as a result of locals returning from holidays of more than a week or travelling, while a further 17 came following short breaks.

Two cases were connected to travel for work or business, two from returning students and one following a hospital appointment or patient transfer.
