Trade union calls for independent panel to decide government whistleblowing cases

Unite the Union says government is 'marking its own homework' when deciding what meets the criteria

A trade union on the Isle of Man is calling for an independent panel to determine what is classed as a whistleblowing case here. 

A Tynwald committee looking at whether the Isle of Man Government's policies are fit for purpose has heard its first evidence.

It was formed to address some of the concerns raised following the fallout from the Dr Rosalind Ranson tribunal in 2022.

Debbie Halsall is head of the Isle of Man branch of Unite the Union and believes no one is coming forward to report potential cases because of a perceived lack of protection:
