Town's budget 'stripped back' says Ramsey Commissioner

Juan McGuinness says the rates increase will provide 'base level' for local authority

A Ramsey commissioner says the budget has been 'stripped back' in an effort to maintain the authority's spending and keep infrastructure in good condition. 

Juan McGuinness, the board's lead member for finance, believes the 'inflationary rise' of 3.5 percent will provide enough funding to maintain the town at a 'base level'. 

The rate has been set at 528 pence in the pound, which is an 18 pence increase and for a standard two-bed bungalow in the town will be a £21.60 increase for the year. 

Mr McGuinness also says there is a budget for the Northern Civic Amenity Site because it still has to pay its share when a new contractor is appointed.
