Tougher drink-drive rule for R-plate drivers?

A lower drink-drive limit is under consideration for newly-qualified drivers in the Isle of Man.

Proposals for a two-tier system would see those with R-plates subject to a level of 50 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood, instead of the current figure of 80.

A public consultaiton on the idea ends this afternoon (Friday), and Rushen MHK Quintin Gill is urging anyone with a view to email the Department of Infrastructure before the deadline.
